Course Description

This studio will focus on designing a new Boathouse for the Duwamish Rowing Club in Seattle. It will replace the existing temporary containers that curently house the facility. Duwamish Rowing is a club that brings the sport of rowing to the residents of South Park, Georgetown, White Center and surrounding neighborhoods; it offers recreational access to the Duwamish River that is affordable for everyone.

The primary goal is to give the Duwamish Rowing Club an architecturally significant facility. The design will focus on strong contextual site development paired with a two step phased building project. Together with Mike Merta, the founder and head coach at Duwamish Rowing, students will develop an appropriate program that will address both of these issues.
