Course Description

LIVE/WORK; a dwelling for a video artist

Students were challenged to consider living and working environments and combine them into a single building design in an urban context.

Video is integrally linked to architecture, not only as a design tool and means to record buildings and cities, but also as a medium that fundamentally relies on light and the framing of views.

A group of video artists plan to build a place to live and work in Fremont/Wallingford. The site is located in an urban neighborhood with a mix of residential, commercial and light-industrial uses including offices for Adobe and Getty Images. Students chose one of three video artists based on previous research, and designed an appropriate living and working environment for that video artist.
